A Copernicus Hackathon organised by the European Institute for Technological Development (IEST) will take place at Villorba, Italy, from 5 to 7 October 2018.

During this 3-day intensive program, different teams including Earth observation and business development experts will challenge each other to provide applications based on Copernicus data and related to sustainable development. The topics more particularly under consideration are energy, water, climate change, human settlements and world partnership.

The RUS service will contribute to this event by providing powerful Virtual Machines to the competitors who would need them, as well as technical and thematic advice for the use of these working environments and the integration of Sentinel imagery in the proposed challenges. An expert of the RUS team will also sit in the jury in charge of choosing the hackathon winner.
