The 5th edition of the Copernicus Eyes on Earth Roadshow jointly organised with the EO4GEO summit will be held online on 2 and 3 June. On this occasion, we will run a remote demonstration, in webinar format, presenting the RUS environment and its powerful capabilities to access, process, analyse and visualise the free data acquired from the Sentinels. This session is free and open to all registered participants to the Copernicus Eyes on Earth Roadshow.
As a consequence of the COVID-19 related restriction and lock-down, a significant decrease in air pollution could be observed in many areas of the world that routinely struggle with high emissions due to industrial activities and road traffic. Sentinel-5p data can be used to observe this decrease, as the mission offers timely data on a multitude of trace gases (CO, NO2, SO2, O3, aerosols…) with an unprecedented accuracy and spatial resolution. It also provides measurement continuity with precedent and ongoing atmospheric spatial missions (OMI, IASI and SCHIAMACHY).
During the demonstration, we will focus on Sentinel-5p Level-2 NO2 products. We will discuss the structure of the netCDF files in used for the distribution of Sentinel-5p data and will explore them using the well-known Python library xarray. Besides, we will show you how to generate Level-3 products, using HARP for a multi-temporal evaluation of NO2, over a study area.
