RUS Copernicus organises a new hands-on training session focussing on the processing of Sentinel-3 data to map burnt areas.
We will use data provided by the Sea and Land Surface Temperature Radiometer (SLSTR) instrument on board the mission. The data recorded, free of use, presents a great interest to study our Earth surface, allowing accurate and reliable measurements of the temperature of land and ocean surface.
After an introduction to the mission and its derivate products, we will dedicate our training to the processing of SLSTR products, using the SNAP software, to map the areas affected by wildfires in Siberia from 8 to 27 June 2020. Indeed, when a strong heatwave hit this area of the world a year ago, SLSTR collected valuable information to monitor the local surface temperatures, as well as the gigantic forest fires raging in this remote region.
This training session is designed for a beginner audience, wishing to discover Sentinel-3 data download and processing. Attendance to this remote training session is free but requires registration before 15 June 2021.
