On the occasion of the 12th EARSeL Forest Fires SIG Workshop to be held in Rome, Italy, from 3 to 5 October 2019, a training session will be held with the contribution of RUS on the application of active and passive remote sensing techniques for fire research. This two day session will be organized on Monday 30 September and Tuesday 1st October 2019 at ESA/ESRIN premises in Frascati, Italy.
The purpose is to disseminate and discuss research methods and technologies of active and passive Earth Observation technologies for applications related to forest fires. The course will concentrate on the use of optical and radar sensors for active fire mapping, burned area mapping, soil organic matter and soil moisture, fire emissions and time series analysis. The practical part of the course will rely on powerful RUS Copernicus Virtual Machines.
